Strategy & Objectives Alignment

Aligning your change programme with the organisation strategy and objectives is absolutely crucial to ensure things are linked together and things aren’t being done just because someone is shouting loudly, ensuring everything is aligned and integrated.

The outcome of doing this properly is that implementation of your change programme will be smoother - change is not easy - but by doing this it will be smoother.

From my experience it is clear that organisations, of all sizes, do not align their change programmes with their overall business strategy, creating a big disconnect and contributing to change chaos.

For example I worked with a leading UK construction company that had a clear business strategy but change was conducted in a piecemeal, ad-hoc fashion with no consideration of aligning this to their overall strategy. The impact of this was a very disorganised, unstructured, chaotic culture with Programme/Project/Change Managers feeling ineffective and lacking any real achievement in their role. The management Board wondered why things did not get done or took ages to deliver.
