Change scope
The start of the change programme journey is to clearly define the scope, the extent of the change activities you will be delivering. To achieve this list out all the individual changes - no need for special software, you can just use a spreadsheet or white board or mind map - so you have all the individual changes identified to start to build the overall picture of change
From this list identify any overlaps, dependencies and risks, this will help to identify any issues and start to prioritise the individual changes.
Estimate timescales, resources and budget needed to deliver each change, to help identify the scale, impact and cost of the overall change programme.
Negotiate and agree the specific change programme with your Executive Team - you may need to revisit if there are too many changes/insufficient budget or resources.
We undertook this exercise with a FTSE250 Construction company, it highlighted that there were just too many individual changes, there was negotiation on budget/resources, some changes were put on the back burner and the final change programme was agreed and signed off by the Executive Board.
